Pros

  • Simple to learn.
  • Tab Only option for clean, professional-looking videos.
  • Slack integration.

Cons

  • It only works on devices that support Chrome extensions.
  • Editing options are limited to trimming.

Time is money, especially when it comes to businesses and companies. The tradition of constantly planning meetings, that take up the time of an entire team, to agree on one or two topics is now a thing of the past. Technologies are now being used to speed up processes and save as much time as possible.

Loom is a screen and camera recording tool that allows you to coordinate topics with your work or study team remotely and immediately. It is easy to use, fast in all its functions and offers a free plan with unlimited duration.

Features and Operation

Although there are many screen recording programs on the market, Loom excels in the following features:

  • Ease of use: It offers a desktop app so you can easily activate it from the various activities you are doing and allows you to use keyboard shortcuts.
  • Chrome extension: You can quickly access the program from Chrome and record separately the activity of each tab, including the particular sound played in that tab.
  • Live control: You can see how your video looks as you record, since the camera view is also on screen, and you can add different colored marks on the screen in real-time.
  • Editing tools: When you finish recording you can cut out the unnecessary parts, add call-to-actions and thumbnails to customize the presentation of your video.
  • Advanced sharing: Once the video is recorded, it is automatically uploaded to the loom’s cloud storage, and you immediately get a link to share it. In that link you can select the privacy of your video: if it will be seen by anyone who has the link or if it will be only for specific people, with or without a password.
  • Advanced feedback: People who watch the video can give reactions and comments on the different parts of the video playback, so the feedback is more effective.

Free and Pro plans

Although Loom offers an unlimited free plan, some of the features and functions I just mentioned are only available on its Pro plan.

The good news is that the pro plan is very cheap, only $10/month, or $95/year, and you can take advantage of some of the limited offers they often release.
